Vugar Gulmammadov: “It is essential to increase the number of performance audits”

Increasing the number of performance audits and expanding their scope is of significant importance.
This was stated by Vugar Gulmammadov, Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts, during discussions on the institution’s activities over the past year at a meeting of the Economic Policy Committee of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan.
According to him, the implementation of an electronic audit information system has begun at the Chamber: “The system is very comprehensive. Through it, deeper analyses will be presented to the National Assembly in the coming years, and changes to the format of reporting are planned. Another issue is expanding both the number and the scope of performance audits. We believe that increasing the number of performance audits in this area is absolutely necessary.”
Gulmammadov noted that financial control is not limited only to external state financial oversight: “Parliamentary oversight of the country, control by executive authorities, and internal control bodies must function in a complementary and integrated manner. For this purpose, updates should be made to the legal framework. This concerns state financial control as a whole.”
