Shmyhal: Ukraine hopes for new energy projects with Baku

Ukraine is interested in the further development of cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector and in the implementation of new joint projects, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said in a post on X.
He noted that during a visit to Azerbaijan, the Ukrainian delegation toured the production facility of the ATEF Group of Companies, a manufacturer of transformer equipment.
"We discussed with the company's management the preparations for the upcoming heating season and the needs of Ukraine's energy system. Key priorities include transformers, generators, and the formation of a reserve of critically important equipment for the rapid restoration of energy facilities following potential Russian attacks," the minister said.
He noted that special attention was paid to the protection of energy infrastructure.
"We are seeking new solutions and technologies to enhance the resilience of energy facilities and discussed possible engineering approaches in this area," the minister said.
He added that Azerbaijan remains an important partner for Ukraine in the energy sector. "
During the most difficult period of last winter, the Azerbaijani side provided generators, transformers, cable products, and other critically important equipment," Shmyhal said, noting that, in total, Azerbaijan has announced 11 packages of energy support for Ukraine since 2022.
He also expressed gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for consistent support of Ukraine and assistance in strengthening the resilience of Ukraine's energy system.
