US transfers $500m from Venezuelan oil sales to Caracas

The administration of US President Donald Trump has completed a payment of $500 million to the Venezuelan authorities from the sale of a shipment of oil.
According to The Daily Baku, this was reported by the Reuters news agency, citing a US official.
“Venezuela has officially received the full $500 million from the first oil sale,” the official said.
He added that the funds would be distributed in line with the interests of the Venezuelan people, in accordance with a decision by the US government. The exact volume of oil sold was not disclosed.
The official also said that Washington intends in the future to transfer proceeds from Venezuelan oil sales into a fund based in the United States. The funds would then be transferred to the Venezuelan authorities with the approval of the US government.
