The US military struck a ground control facility on Qeshm Island after intercepting missiles and drones that the US claims were launched by Iran, reads a statement by US Central Command, "The Daily Baku" informs.
The command stated that US forces intercepted several ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles during an incident that occurred on June 2 in the Middle East.
According to CENTCOM, Iran fired five missiles, none of which reached their targets. The US military also claimed to have destroyed three drones.
The US subsequently struck a ground control facility on Qeshm Island, calling its actions self-defense. Iran has not yet officially commented on the US command's statement.
In turn, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched missile and drone strikes against the US Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, as well as an American airbase in a regional country, in response to US strikes on an Iranian military facility on Qeshm Island.
It was also noted that the Corps attacked a US-affiliated vessel in response to the strike on an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz.
