Turkish expert: Azerbaijan–U.S. relations create a new phase of regional and global cooperation

The world is currently experiencing a period of uncertainty and geopolitical tension in international relations. In such conditions, transport corridors that connect states and nations have become one of the key instruments for implementing foreign policy strategies. These corridors also serve as stabilizing factors and play an important role in safeguarding strategic routes.
This was stated by international relations expert Halit Hamzaoğlu in a comment to The Daily Baku.
According to the expert, the communications created by transport corridors offer significant opportunities for a predictable regional outlook. “The strategic progress achieved in Azerbaijan–U.S. relations creates favorable conditions for the establishment of new cooperation mechanisms at both regional and global levels. The historic visit of U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance to Baku clearly demonstrated the strategic nature of these ties.”
Hamzaoğlu noted that Azerbaijan’s development of a cooperation model based on mutual interests with the United States at the intersection of the Trans-Caspian route strengthens regional connectivity.
“In this framework, Azerbaijan plays a key role in the Middle Corridor project prioritized by Türkiye. The Middle Corridor is not only of economic and trade significance but also carries special importance for deepening humanitarian and cultural ties.”
The expert added that the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia through U.S. mediation following the summit held at the White House on August 8 creates a foundation for regional cooperation. This cooperation aligns with Türkiye’s vision of ensuring stability in the South Caucasus.
Emphasizing that the Middle Corridor and the Trump Corridor are complementary projects, Hamzaoğlu said, “Thanks to this complementarity, it is possible to create a strong atmosphere of peace in the South Caucasus. The Middle Corridor promotes the formation of a predictable geoeconomic network and is of particular importance in terms of connectivity. Türkiye and Azerbaijan are also developing the Trump Corridor within the same priorities. As a result, the Turkic world can become a major hub in global connectivity.”
Hamzaoğlu concluded that the complementarity of these transport routes enhances the effectiveness of regional cooperation mechanisms and ensures that cooperation is oriented toward lasting peace. According to the expert, economic integration is vital for achieving sustainable peace in the South Caucasus.
“Transport corridors act as the main catalyst for this integration and accelerate the formation of a predictable political environment. Ultimately, this will help turn peace into a permanent element and foster the development of new models of cooperation.”
