Trump says US blockade of Strait of Hormuz could continue until autumn

US President Donald Trump expressed hope for a swift resolution of the conflict with Iran but did not rule out the possibility that the situation could drag on and that the US naval blockade in the area of the Strait of Hormuz might remain in place for several more months.
According to The Daily Baku, Trump made the remarks in an interview for the Pod Force One program of the The New York Post.
The newspaper reported that Trump considered it possible for the US maritime blockade to remain in effect until Labor Day, September 7.
However, the US president emphasized that he considers such a scenario unlikely.
"I don"t know. I think that could happen (an extension of the blockade until September - ed.). But it's unlikely. I think we'll solve all the problems, and fairly quickly," Trump said.
Trump also expressed optimism about the ongoing negotiations with Iran, stating that the situation is "moving quickly" and suggesting that progress toward a resolution may come sooner than expected.
