At least 46 people have died and 558 have been injured over three weeks as a result of heavy snowfall in Japan.
The Daily Baku reports that this was stated by The Japan Times, citing information from local rescue services.
Most of the fatal incidents occurred when snow masses fell from rooftops onto people or during snow removal operations.
Since late January, northern regions of the country have been particularly affected by the ongoing snowfall. In addition, adverse weather conditions have caused disruptions to transportation services.
According to the country’s meteorological service, the height of snow accumulation in the city of Aomori in northern Honshu currently stands at 1.3 meters.
