Son of former Iranian vice president detained in the U.S., stripped of green card

Isa Hashemi, the son of Iran’s former vice president for women and family affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar, has been detained in the United States and stripped of his permanent resident status.
This was stated in a release by the U.S. Department of State.

The State Department said all three arrived in the U.S. in 2014 and obtained green cards in 2016.
Earlier, U.S. authorities also detained and revoked the green cards of a niece and grandniece of former commander of the IRGC Quds Force Qassem Soleimani, who was killed by the United States in 2020.
In addition, the legal permanent resident status of the daughter of former secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani, who had left the country, as well as her husband, was revoked. They were also banned from entering the United States.
