Shamakhi FK general manager Kamran Ismayilov: No final decision yet on Aykhan Abbasov

No final decision has been made regarding the future of head coach Aykhan Abbasov at Shamakhi FK.
This was stated by the club’s general manager Kamran Ismayilov, who noted that the 44 year old specialist’s current contract runs until the end of the season.
“The head coach will remain in his position until the end of the season and continue his work. I do not want to mislead anyone – no new contract has yet been signed with Aykhan Abbasov for next season. If he leaves the team, it is difficult to say who will replace him. In life and in football, every day brings new developments. What will happen at the end of the season is hard to predict. Nothing has been finalized yet, so it is difficult to comment. Anything can happen,” he said.
Ismayilov added that if the club parts ways with Abbasov, they will begin the search for a new head coach:
“Our club follows a certain approach. We try not to disclose information during negotiations with coaches or players. Agreements may not always be reached, so we do not consider it appropriate to comment on every stage of talks. We provide official information only after a contract is signed. The same applies if a contract is not extended. At present, no final decision has been made. After the season ends, a clear decision will be taken on whether Aykhan Abbasov will remain with the team. If not, we will certainly begin the process of searching and negotiating with a new head coach.”
It should be noted that Aykhan Abbasov, who is also the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team, has been working at Shamakhi since 2024.
