Sandu sees Moldova’s unification with Romania as a fast track to EU membership

Moldovan President Maia Sandu considers the possibility of her country’s unification with Romania as one of the ways to accelerate the process of joining the European Union.

According to "The Daily Baku", she stated this in an interview with the newspaper "Le Monde".

Sandu emphasized that for Moldova, integration into the EU is not merely a desire, but "a strategy for survival as a democratic state".

According to her, in order to withstand pressure from Russia, EU enlargement should include not only Moldova, but also Ukraine, as well as the countries of the Western Balkans.
