Pezeshkian appoints Iran’s new defence minister

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Majid ibn al-Reza as acting defence minister.

According to The Daily Baku, Iranian media reported the appointment.

It should be noted that Iran’s Foreign Ministry had earlier confirmed the death of Defence Minister Lieutenant General Aziz Nasirzadeh.

In addition, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Lieutenant General Mohammad Pakpour, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Abdolrahim Mousavi, and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani have also been killed.
