Pete Hegseth: We call on the new regime in Iran to make a wise choice.

Iran can choose a prosperous future, and we hope its leadership will do so for the sake of its people.

According to The Daily Baku, citing AZERTAC, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth made these remarks during a press conference.

He stated that the United States will maintain the blockade for as long as necessary.

“However, if Iran makes the wrong choice, a blockade will be imposed, and bombs will be dropped on its energy infrastructure. At the same time, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the Department of the Treasury have launched ‘Operation Economic Wrath,’ increasing economic pressure on the Iranian government to the maximum. As for Iran, I want to say: make a wise choice. The world watched, and you watched as well. The U.S. military seamlessly transitioned from large-scale combat operations to a world-class blockade. We can make this transition again, even more powerfully than before. Under President Trump’s directive, the Department of Defense will ensure that Iran never possesses nuclear weapons. We prefer to achieve this in a good way, through an agreement, but we can also do it the hard way. We call on this new regime to make a wise choice,” Hegseth added.
