Pakistani official praises activities of center in Azerbaijan

Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Human Rights Abdul Khaliq Sheikh has visited a center operating at Azerbaijan University of Languages.
According to The Daily Baku, the Pakistani official ознакомился с деятельностью центра на месте and noted the strong interest shown by students.
Abdul Khaliq Sheikh stated that such initiatives make a significant contribution to the development of humanitarian and cultural ties between the two countries.
“It is a great honor for us to visit you and learn about your activities firsthand. Upon our return, we will convey to the Government of Pakistan our recommendations to increase support for this center, as well as for similar centers at the National Institute of Modern Languages in Islamabad that promote the Azerbaijani language, culture and academic studies,” he said.
It should be noted that Abdul Khaliq Sheikh has been engaged in political activity for many years. He joined politics during his student years and is currently a member of the ruling political party in Pakistan. This is his fifth term.
Previously, he served as head of the Child Protection Bureau in Punjab, the largest province of Pakistan. Currently, in addition to being a member of parliament, he serves as parliamentary secretary at the Ministry of Human Rights.
The Pakistani official also shared positive impressions of Azerbaijan’s capital.
According to him, the city appears clean, well organized and orderly.
Abdul Khaliq Sheikh emphasized that despite being a Muslim country, Azerbaijan has an open-minded, liberal and modern societal model.
He also highly appreciated women’s active participation in society, noting that women make up nearly 50 percent of the workforce and are active in all spheres of life.
The official added that women’s participation in the economy, particularly in education, is impressive, and in this regard Azerbaijan resembles Türkiye.
In conclusion, he stressed that cultural continuity and preservation of historical heritage are of great importance for all Muslim nations.
