Over 1,450 hectares cleared of mines in Azerbaijan in one week

More than 1,455 hectares of land have been cleared of mines in liberated areas of Azerbaijan over the past week, according to official figures.
Data released by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action shows that between 13 and 19 April, demining teams discovered and neutralised 17 anti-tank mines, 62 anti-personnel mines and 460 items of unexploded ordnance.
The agency said a total of 1,455.4 hectares had been cleared during the reporting period.
Demining operations were carried out jointly by ANAMA, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan and the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, along with four private companies.
The work took place across several districts, including Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, Shusha, Khojavend, Lachin, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan, as well as in recently liberated villages in the Gazakh district.
