Non-compliant vegetable-based spread oil imported from Russia detected in Azerbaijan

A batch of vegetable-based spread oil imported from Russia has been found non-compliant in Azerbaijan, according to the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AQTA).
The agency reported that the product was manufactured by “Jirovoy Kombinat” and imported by “Oba Market” LLC.
Laboratory testing revealed that a 19-ton batch of the “Shchedroe Leto” branded spread, with a fat content of 82.5% and packaged in 1 kg units, did not meet safety standards.
The non-compliance was identified in relation to the levels of 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD) and glycidyl fatty acid esters (expressed as glycidol).
According to AQTA, the issue concerns products with production and expiry dates between January 24, 2026 and September 21, 2026.
The agency stated that appropriate legal measures have been taken. A decision has been made to either return the batch outside the customs territory, dispose of it, or destroy it.
