NL Times: Amsterdam's city center declared a high-risk zone due to protests

Amsterdam authorities have declared the areas around Central Station and Dam Square "high-risk zones" due to the risk of protests related to the situation in Syria.
The Daily Baku reports that this was reported by the NL Times.
According to the NL Times, the "high-alert regime" was declared on the evening of January 23 after police received information about impending demonstrations in the city center that threatened to escalate into unrest. Similar demonstrations have been announced in other cities across the Netherlands.
With the declaration of the "high-alert regime," law enforcement officers have received additional powers, including the right to conduct "preventive searches" in the city center and to ban the wearing of full-face clothing. These measures are provided for by municipal law and are applied when there is a threat of public disorder. The duration of the regime has not been officially set.
