MP: Provocative statements by politicians like Zatulin will yield no results in the region

Statements made by Russian MP Konstantin Zatulin following the recent Pashinyan–Putin meeting in Moscow are biased and provocative in nature.
This was stated by Tural Ganjaliyev in a comment to “The Daily Baku”.
According to him, such statements reflect a destructive approach to the region and clearly reveal the essence of certain political circles:
“The views voiced by Zatulin and published in Komsomolskaya Pravda are an open provocation directed against the Azerbaijani state, its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political leadership. Such approaches are neither consistent with international law nor with the new realities formed in the region.”
The MP noted that the claims voiced regarding the Karabakh issue are completely unfounded:
“The international community, including Russia, has recognized Karabakh as an integral part of Azerbaijan. This is clearly reflected both in the UN Security Council resolutions and in bilateral documents. Ignoring or denying this reality is merely a sign of political illiteracy and bias.”
Tural Ganjaliyev emphasized that mentioning Azerbaijan in the context of tensions between Russia and Armenia is unacceptable:
“If there are certain problems and mutual accusations between these two countries, linking them to Azerbaijan is unacceptable. This contradicts political ethics and is aimed at deliberately creating tension in the region.”
According to the MP, such statements demonstrate that certain political circles have not abandoned outdated approaches:
“Politicians who for many years pursued a policy of pitting the peoples of the region against each other must now understand that this period is over. The policy of using Armenia as a tool against Azerbaijan has also failed.”
He added that Azerbaijan is now a key actor shaping new realities in the post-conflict period and advancing a peace agenda in the region:
“With its strong leader, strong army, and unified position, Azerbaijan ended the occupation and created a new geopolitical reality in the region. Attempts to change these realities will yield no results.”
In conclusion, Tural Ganjaliyev stated that such remarks only expose the true nature of their authors:
“The statements voiced by individuals like Zatulin are aimed at undermining Azerbaijan–Armenia relations and creating hostility. However, such attempts will not produce any results. On the contrary, these approaches only lead to the exposure of these politicians and to regional countries distancing themselves from them.”
