MP: Azerbaijan’s invitation to the Peace Council reflects international trust in President Ilham Aliyev’s peace agenda

The establishment of the international organization called the Peace Council at the initiative of US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijan’s invitation to join this body as a Founding Member State is an important political development confirming that President Ilham Aliyev’s principled and consistent peace policy has been recognized at the international level.
These remarks were made by Member of Parliament Rizvan Nabiyev in an interview with The Daily Baku.
According to the MP, Azerbaijan’s invitation to the Peace Council as a founding member is not coincidental. This step is a logical outcome of Azerbaijan’s role as a constructive, responsible, and reliable actor in the new political realities formed in the region after the Glorious Victory.
“The letter addressed by President Ilham Aliyev to US President Donald Trump clearly demonstrates Azerbaijan’s position on the international peace agenda and the role it seeks to play in the emerging global political architecture. This letter is a clear example of Azerbaijan’s balanced, principled, and responsible foreign policy line.”
The MP noted that the presentation of the US President as the Chair of the Peace Council in the letter, as well as the high appreciation expressed for his leadership, demonstrates Azerbaijan’s ability to pursue pragmatic and flexible diplomacy in the new international political realities.
“This approach once again confirms that Baku has chosen a path of dialogue and cooperation with global centers of power.
President Ilham Aliyev’s letter delivers an important political message that Azerbaijan intends to support peace not only at the level of political declarations, but also through institutional and international mechanisms. This step also demonstrates Azerbaijan’s desire to contribute to shaping the agenda of peace, stability, and cooperation in the new world order.”
According to the MP, by putting an end to Armenia’s 30 year occupation, Azerbaijan not only restored its territorial integrity, but also proved its ability to manage risks and transform them into political capital.
“Armenia, which once posed a serious threat to regional security and cooperation, is today compelled to take steps toward cooperation amid Azerbaijan’s consistent and phased peace initiatives. In the current international environment, where the effectiveness of classical security institutions is declining and regional conflicts are turning into global challenges, the need for alternative peace mechanisms is clearly felt. In this context, Azerbaijan’s inclusion among the founders of the Peace Council is an indicator of the country’s growing weight in the international relations system and its capacity to participate in norm shaping processes.”
In conclusion, the MP emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev’s peace agenda is based on the opening of regional communications, recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a model of relations grounded in international law. Azerbaijan proves this approach through real political and diplomatic actions. Representation in the Peace Council should be regarded as a continuation of this strategic course.
