Migrants' stay in the country is tied to an employment contract: new decision from Russia

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin has submitted a draft law on changes to Russia's migration policy to the relevant committee of the parliamentary chamber.
"The Daily Baku" reports that the press service of the State Duma reported on this.
Volodin noted that improving migration policy is a priority for the lower house of parliament. The document has already been submitted to the relevant committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots and will be considered as a priority issue.
The initiative includes amendments to the Law "On the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation". According to the amendment, migrant workers will have to pay taxes in the form of a fixed advance for themselves and their family members, and the duration of their stay in the country will be linked to the duration of the employment contract.
Children over 18 years of age, regardless of their employment status, will be required to leave the country within 30 days if they do not have the right to stay in Russia. If the migrant's income is unknown or is less than the regional subsistence minimum, the patent or work permit will be canceled.
If the work activity lasts less than 10 months, a refusal to issue a temporary or permanent residence permit or the cancellation of an already issued permit is envisaged.
"These measures will strengthen monitoring of income and the right to stay, reduce the burden on social infrastructure. No economy is interested in the social well-being of migrants, their provision should correspond to the goods they consume in the country," Volodin said.
