Media: California faces energy crisis amid Middle East conflict

U.S. oil giant "Chevron" has warned of the risk of an energy crisis in California amid the military operation by the United States and Israel against Iran.
This was reported by "Bloomberg".
According to the publication, California receives about 20% of its fuel from Asian countries whose energy supplies depend on transit through the Strait of Hormuz. In addition, the state is not connected to the United States’ main energy resource and refining hubs in Texas and Louisiana.
It is noted that the situation has been further aggravated by the closure of several oil refineries in recent years due to rising costs driven by stricter environmental regulations and declining profits for oil companies.
“California has decided to rely on imports. This is a dangerous game,” said Chevron representative Andy Walz.
According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the price of a gallon of gasoline in California has risen from $4.62 a month ago to $5.82. The U.S. average stands at $3.97.
