Majid Al-Ansari: We expect a new round of US–Iran talks in Pakistan

Qatar expects a new round of talks between the United States and Iran to take place in Pakistan.
This was stated by the official spokesperson of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid Al-Ansari, during a media briefing.
“Intensive regional contacts are currently underway to ensure the success of mediation efforts and de-escalation. We also expect confirmation regarding the start of a new round of negotiations in Pakistan,” he said.
According to him, Qatar is also holding talks with partners on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and addressing the negative consequences of its closure.
“We are maintaining contact with our partners to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and prevent negative consequences for all parties. <...> No party can jeopardize the security of the Strait of Hormuz, and there should be no preconditions for its reopening,” he said.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that Qatar has consistently emphasized the need for a long-term solution to consolidate the ceasefire regime between the parties to the conflict in the Middle East, as this serves the common interests of all.
