Italy’s deputy prime minister: Iran’s attack on Azerbaijan is unacceptable

Iran’s attack on Azerbaijan, a country that has never conducted military operations against Türkiye, the Gulf states or even Tehran, is unacceptable. The Italian government strongly condemns these actions by Iran.
The Daily Baku reports that Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, made the statement on March 5 while addressing the Italian Chamber of Deputies regarding the crisis situation in the Middle East following the attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel.
“Iran has carried out missile and drone attacks on strategic infrastructure and military facilities in Gulf countries, and in Azerbaijan on an airport and a residential area. Air defense forces of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain are engaged in intercepting missiles launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran. In this constantly evolving situation, the risk of the conflict expanding is real,” Antonio Tajani noted.
He added that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons and missile systems that could pose a threat to the region and to Europe.
