Within the framework of the event, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev shared his views on the activities carried out at the Center in recent years:
“Last year, for the first time, a corneal transplant from a local cadaver donor was performed. Today, we will officially open the Eye Bank. Of course, these achievements reflect professional management, a highly qualified workforce, and a modern technological base at the Center.”
Director of the National Ophthalmology Center Elmar Gasimov spoke about Zarifa Aliyeva’s contributions to ophthalmology:
“Zarifa Aliyeva has nearly 200 scientific works translated into foreign languages. These works have been highly beneficial for many doctors in their professional activities. She achieved significant scientific results in studying and eliminating trachoma, which was once widespread in Azerbaijan, as well as in the prevention and treatment of occupational eye diseases.”
President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, academician Isa Habibbeyli, noted that the National Ophthalmology Center, which enjoys great prestige today, continues to develop:
“The achievements in the Center’s activities are increasing year by year. This is a clear example of the attention given to the healthcare system in our country.”
Chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis Ahliman Amiraslanov stated that although Zarifa Aliyeva did not have the opportunity to work at the Center, her legacy serves as a guiding light for everyone working in this field:
“Not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the former USSR and many parts of the world, her scientific activity and contributions have been highly appreciated.”
Chairman of the Association of Ophthalmology of Turkic States Oner Gelishken emphasized the importance of the event:
“This conference serves as an important platform for discussing the latest scientific achievements and modern medical technologies in ophthalmology, as well as for exchanging experience between local and foreign specialists. The main goal of the conference is to discuss current issues in ophthalmology, analyze new diagnostic and treatment methods, and determine future development directions.”
