Iranian authorities executed 1,639 people in 2025, marking the highest figure since 1989.

This was stated in the annual report by Iran Human Rights (IHR) and Together Against the Death Penalty.

It was noted that this figure represents an average of more than four executions per day.

According to the report, this is the highest execution rate since IHR began monitoring in 2008 and since 1989, the early years following the Islamic Revolution.
