Guterres: UN highly values ​​Baku's commitment to multilateral cooperation

The UN highly values ​​Azerbaijan's continued commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, and the promotion of inclusive global engagement, reads a message from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, delivered by Igor Garafulic, the UN Resident Coordinator a.i. in Azerbaijan, at the General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform.

He noted that this NGO platform is an important mechanism for solidarity, dialogue, and partnership among countries of the Global South.

The message also emphasized that the Assembly's focus on inclusive urban development, climate resilience, and sustainable governance reflects the realities facing cities in the Global South in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Furthermore, the Secretary-General noted the importance of promoting joint initiatives, strengthening institutional ties, and expanding civil society participation at UN forums, including the COP and WUF.

"The UN in Azerbaijan is ready to support efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation and expanding the capacity of civil society," reads the message.
