Germany has handed over the ninth IRIS-T system to Ukraine.
Germany has delivered its ninth IRIS-T air defense missile system to Ukraine,  The Daily Baku reports, citing the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

According to the information, the high-tech IRIS-T missiles can quickly maneuver, engage targets both on a collision course and during pursuit, and have highly sensitive infrared homing heads. They are capable of engaging modern aircraft, penetrating their defenses, and distinguishing real targets from decoys.

Two types of IRIS-T systems are currently in use: the SLS (short-range), with a range of up to 12 km and an altitude of up to 8 km, and the SLM (medium-range), with a range of up to 40 km and an altitude of up to 20 km.

The IRIS-T is a modern air defense missile system manufactured by the German company Diehl Defense. The system is designed to engage aircraft, helicopters, drones, and cruise missiles.
