Georgia and Armenia discuss joint border control post project

Georgia and Armenia have discussed plans to introduce a joint management system at their border crossing points, officials say.
The talks took place during a meeting between Irakli (Dachi) Beraya and Mikheil Chokoshvili, and Eduard Hakobyan.
The meeting was held at the Gogavan border crossing, where the sides discussed implementing a joint control system.
Under the proposed project, modern infrastructure would be developed to facilitate the movement of passengers and vehicles. Officials say the model aims to simplify customs procedures and reduce waiting times at the border.
The parties also stressed the importance of exchanging advance information on cargo and transport.
The initiative is supported by the Asian Development Bank and is based on an agreement signed between the two countries in 2013.Officials say the project could strengthen cooperation between customs authorities, improve security measures, and boost legal trade.
