Fourteen dead as migrant boat intercepted off Greece

The death toll has risen to 14 after the Greek Coast Guard intercepted a boat carrying irregular migrants near the island of Chios, with 24 people hospitalised with injuries.
According to The Daily Baku, this was reported by Greece’s ERT News television channel.
The incident occurred at sea near Mirsinidio beach on the island of Chios, where a Coast Guard vessel encountered a speedboat carrying irregular migrants.
According to the latest information, 14 people have died and 24 others have been injured. A total of 22 injured migrants, including two Coast Guard officers, seven children and one pregnant woman, were taken to hospital. Following reports of missing persons, a search and rescue operation involving the Coast Guard and the Air Force is continuing.
Preliminary official information indicates that the speedboat carrying the migrants collided with a Coast Guard vessel. Four Coast Guard ships, one vessel carrying civilian divers and a helicopter belonging to the Air Force are currently at the scene.
