EU confirms deployment of mission to Armenia to counter hybrid threats

The European Union (EU) will send a mission to Armenia aimed at strengthening the country’s resilience to hybrid threats.
The mission will provide strategic and practical advice, as well as support to relevant ministries and security institutions.
According to reports, EU ambassadors in Brussels have approved the decision to deploy such a mission to Armenia.
The decision is expected to be formally confirmed at a meeting of EU foreign ministers next week.
The mission’s tasks will include advising and supporting ministries and security agencies. These consultations will focus on policy development, detecting and responding to foreign information manipulation, cyberattacks, and illicit financial flows.
In addition, the mission will assess what is needed to enhance Armenia’s security capacity so that the country can more effectively identify and respond to hybrid threats in line with EU methodologies and standards.
It should be noted that Armenia had requested such a mission from the EU ahead of its parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, 2026, in order to counter hybrid threats.
