Emmanuel Aqbason: “I thank my teammates for being included in the Champions League All-Star Five”

Emmanuel Aqbason, a member of the U-18 team of the Sabah basketball club, who was named to the symbolic “All-Star Five” of the FIBA Youth Champions League, expressed his gratitude to his teammates for this achievement.
“I thank them for this. I also tried to do everything for the team. The efforts of other players contributed to my individual success. I think we will be able to compete even better in the future. Overall, the tournament went very well for us and was a great experience. For this reason, we are looking to the future with more optimism,” he emphasized.
Aqbason, who also represents the Azerbaijan national team, noted that the squad was newly formed for this tournament:
“It was our first time participating in such a competition. We could not perform as we wanted in the first game. But in the second match, everything went the way we wanted. We understood each other better and achieved a victory. We also wanted to win the third game. We fought until the end, but it didn’t work out. Nevertheless, we won the fourth match. I think our team performed very well.”
It should be recalled that Sabah lost its opening group match to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Igokea (58:88), then defeated Germany’s Porsche BBA Ludwigsburg (72:61). Although the team lost to Serbia’s Borac (60:67) in the 5th–8th place match, they went on to beat Türkiye’s Tofaş (86:60) in the 7th–8th place game.
