Deputy Minister: Employment opportunities have expanded in Azerbaijan

Employment opportunities have expanded in Azerbaijan.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Zaur Aliyev at a conference titled “Management of psychosocial risks in the workplace: modern approaches and solutions,” dedicated to April 28 – World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the consistent social reforms implemented in recent years under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev have also covered the field of labour relations. He noted the growth dynamics in the number of employment contracts and the digitalization of labour relations.
Zaur Aliyev stated that, along with its other advantages, the “Labour and Employment” subsystem plays a particularly important role in ensuring flexible and effective control over labour relations. Highlighting the steps taken to strengthen the occupational safety system, the Deputy Minister stressed that preventive measures in this area have been expanded in recent years and international cooperation has developed.
He noted that the measures implemented in the field of labour relations in Azerbaijan are positively assessed by the International Labour Organization:
“Azerbaijan, which has extensive cooperation with the ILO in regulating labour relations, has ratified 60 conventions and one protocol of the Organization over the past period. This indicator has made our country one of the states that have adopted the largest number of ILO documents in the CIS region. Thus, Azerbaijan has secured the status of a country that has adopted 4 fundamental principles and rights at work conventions and 10 core conventions of the ILO.”
The Deputy Minister also stated that reconstruction work in the territories liberated from occupation is continuing at a high pace:
“Against the background of large-scale restoration work carried out in these territories, ensuring safe and healthy working conditions for employees remains a special focus. As a result of the integration of the ‘Entry to the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions’ information system with EMAS, proactive control measures are being implemented. As a result of these measures, approximately 13,000 employment contracts have been concluded.”
