Cybersecurity training programme launched in Baku with EU support

A series of specialised cybersecurity training sessions has begun in Baku, bringing together representatives of government agencies, critical infrastructure operators, cybersecurity bodies and private financial institutions.
The programme is organised by the Estonian e-Governance Academy and the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Organizations Association, and will run until 24 April.
The training sessions focus on key areas such as managing cybersecurity risks to ensure financial system stability, assessing incident response maturity, exchanging malware intelligence and detecting network threats.
Organisers say the programme combines both strategic and technical aspects of cyber resilience, aiming to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical skills.
During a seminar dedicated to cybersecurity risk management in the financial sector, participants will examine the impact of cyber risks on financial stability and review advanced approaches implemented by the European Union.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to assess their institutions’ readiness to respond to cyber incidents across organisational structures, human resources, technical tools and operational processes.
Technical training sessions are designed for CSIRT and CERT teams, focusing on the application of practical tools, threat intelligence sharing, detection of malicious activities and improving operational response mechanisms.
Speaking at the opening event, AKTA Executive Director Rauf Jabbarov said such initiatives play an important role in strengthening cooperation between institutions, enhancing practical expertise and improving incident response capabilities.
eGA project manager Elsa Neeme highlighted the importance of collaboration with strong local partners, noting that it ensures initiatives are aligned with real needs and supports long-term resilience and institutional capacity building.
The training programme is funded under the EU initiative “Cyber Resilience Enhancement in the Eastern Partnership Countries 2.0” and is implemented by eGA in cooperation with local partners.
