Construction of the Balakan cable car has begun

Construction work on a cable car in Heydar Aliyev Park in the city of Balakan has officially started.
According to the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, demolition of the existing cable car has already commenced.
At the initial stage, the cable line ropes, as well as all technological and electrical equipment at the lower and upper terminals, were dismantled. The demolition of the terminal buildings is currently underway.
According to the project design, the Balakan cable car will have a length of 850 meters and a height of 53 meters. The travel time will be approximately four minutes. The system will be capable of transporting up to 330 passengers per hour using six cabins.
It should be noted that the Balakan cable car project was approved by a decree signed by the President of Azerbaijan on May 8, 2025, regarding the design and construction of a passenger cable car in Heydar Aliyev Park in Balakan district. The project is expected to contribute to the development of tourism infrastructure in the region and create new opportunities for visitors.
