Azerbaijan's Ombudsman discussed cooperation with her Montenegrin counterpart

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva met with the Ombudsman of Montenegro Sinisa Byeković.
During the meeting, Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva provided the guest with detailed information about her activities in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms.
The Commissioner stated that her mandate has been expanded in the areas of prevention of discrimination, ensuring the right to equality, protection of the rights of children, migrants, as well as persons with disabilities, and other areas, and that she has been authorized to carry out the functions of an independent monitoring mechanism in the mentioned areas.
Sabina Aliyeva provided the guests with extensive information about the activities of monitoring groups established to ensure the right to equality and prevent discrimination, and the positive experiences gained.
At the same time, the Commissioner once again expressed her gratitude to Sinisa Byeković for the operational support provided in the field of protection of the rights of Azerbaijani citizens during the events that took place in Montenegro last year.
In turn, the Ombudsman of Montenegro, Sinisa Bjekovic, expressed his gratitude to Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva for the warm welcome and hospitality, and emphasized that there are ample opportunities for further development of inter-institutional cooperation in the future.
The meeting also included a broad exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest and prospects for future cooperation.
