Azerbaijani president, German chancellor hold phone call

On March 17, a phone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, The Daily Baku reports.

During the call, concern was expressed over the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and an exchange of views was held on their possible impact on the South Caucasus region.

Friedrich Merz welcomed the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and noted its importance for regional stability.

The President of Azerbaijan and the German Chancellor also discussed the prospects for bilateral relations, as well as issues related to expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
