Azerbaijani parliament to convene extraordinary session

An extraordinary session of Azerbaijan's parliament will be convened.

According to reports, members of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) have submitted an appeal to the Speaker of Parliament regarding the matter.

The final plenary meeting of the parliament's spring session is scheduled to take place today.

An extraordinary session is a special parliamentary sitting held during the recess period between the spring and autumn sessions of the Milli Majlis. The mechanism is used to address urgent issues of national importance requiring prompt consideration.

Under Azerbaijan's Constitution, an extraordinary session may be convened only at the request of the President or at least 42 members of parliament.
