Azerbaijani MP: Reconstruction of Karabakh is a real manifestation of Azerbaijan’s political will and national strength

After achieving a historic Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, Azerbaijan not only restored its territorial integrity, but also became a leading state shaping new geopolitical realities in the region, Member of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Tural Ganjaliyev stated this in his remarks to The Daily Baku.
The MP noted that following the war, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has become an active participant in the global geopolitical agenda and is now among the states positioned at the center of international politics. According to him, the large-scale reconstruction and restoration process being implemented in the liberated territories is a clear example of this.
“Today we can clearly see that as a result of the deliberate policy of destruction pursued by Armenia during the occupation, Karabakh and East Zangezur were virtually razed to the ground. Aghdam, Fuzuli, Jabrayil and other cities were almost wiped off the map. In particular, the situation in Aghdam was justifiably described by the international community as the ‘Hiroshima of the Caucasus’. However, today we are faced with a completely different picture,” Ganjaliyev emphasized.
He stressed that despite all this massive devastation, the Azerbaijani state is carrying out the reconstruction and rebuilding process relying solely on its internal resources. The revival of such heavily destroyed areas within a short period of time is a phenomenon rarely seen in the world:
“After the Second World War, the restoration of ruined cities in Europe took decades. Azerbaijan, however, is implementing this process at great speed within just a few years. This is an indicator of both our economic potential and our political will.”
Tural Ganjaliyev added that unfortunately some international circles and European institutions, instead of objectively assessing this extensive construction process, demonstrate a biased position towards Azerbaijan and ignore the realities: “Yet Azerbaijan, independently and without any foreign assistance, is rebuilding destroyed cities, returning internally displaced persons to their native lands and creating a real foundation for lasting peace in the region,” he said.
The MP noted that foreign parliamentarians visiting Karabakh and East Zangezur today witness with their own eyes the scale of the work carried out within a short period and cannot hide their astonishment. “In particular, representatives arriving from Europe admit that reconstruction work at such a pace is an extremely rare occurrence,” he stressed.
Ganjaliyev underlined that despite the mine threat, Azerbaijan does not deviate from its path and is successfully implementing the “Great Return” program, ensuring security step-by-step. According to him, more than 23 billion manats have so far been allocated for Karabakh and East Zangezur, and this process continues.
He also stated that President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to Khankandi, as well as the opening of the Victory Memorial Complex, sends a powerful message to the entire world: “Azerbaijan is a victorious state. It builds, creates and establishes a new life on its own lands. This is not only reconstruction, but also the triumph of national pride, political will and historical justice.”
In conclusion, Tural Ganjaliyev emphasized that the people of Azerbaijan, rallying closely around their leader, are reviving Karabakh, and this process is defining the country’s development path for the coming decades.
