Azerbaijani, Iranian FMs hold phone talk

A telephone conversation took place today between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

During the telephone conversation, the military operations in Iran and the situation resulting from the military escalation in the region were discussed.The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran provided information on the current situation and the steps taken.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed serious concern over the tragic escalation of the situation in the region. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, conveyed his condolences over the death of innocent civilians.

The hope was expressed that military operations would soon cease and that the current situation would be resolved only through dialogue and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.

At the same time, it was emphasized that it was impossible for any country to use the territory of Azerbaijan against neighboring and friendly Iran.

During the telephone conversation, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
