Azerbaijani chess player Aydin Suleymanli leads European Championship

Azerbaijani chess player Aydın Süleymanlı is leading the European Championship being held in Katowice.
He achieved this after the games of the seventh round.
The Azerbaijani grandmaster moved into the lead after defeating Belgium’s Daniel Dardha in the round.
With 6 points, Suleymanli is sharing 1st–4th places. However, he is ranked first based on tie-break criteria. Today, in the eighth round, he will face Georgian player Nikoloz Kacharava.
Another Azerbaijani representative at the European Championship, Nicat Abasov, defeated Sweden’s Erik Blomqvist in the seventh round. He is currently in 10th place with 5.5 points after seven rounds.
Məhəmməd Muradlı, Şiroğlan Talıbov, Şahin Vəliyev and Süleyman Süleymanlı have each collected 5 points and are ranked 38th, 50th, 53rd and 56th, respectively.
It should be noted that players achieving top results at the continental championship will qualify for next year’s World Cup. The European Championship consists of 11 rounds.
