Azerbaijan repatriates mother and four children from Syria

On January 12, the repatriation of five more citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan (a mother and her four children) from the Syrian Arab Republic to the country was carried out, The Daily Baku reports citing the press service of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan.
It was reported that representatives of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with the repatriates who had been placed in a relevant institution of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
During the meeting, the situation regarding the protection of the repatriates’ rights was examined, their existing problems and needs were identified, and recommendations were given regarding their integration into society, as well as access to education and employment opportunities.
At the meeting, the repatriates were provided with detailed information about the Ombudsman’s mandate, areas of activity, ways to apply to the Ombudsman, as well as existing mechanisms for the protection of their rights.
