Azerbaijan may expand transit capacity for Kazakhstan oil

Azerbaijan is ready to increase the transit of Kazakh oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (BTC).
According to The Daily Baku, citing Interfax-Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov made the statement.
According to the minister, in 2025 Kazakhstan transited 1.2 million tons of oil via the BTC, and the Azerbaijani side is prepared to raise this figure to 2.2 million tons.
Currently, the BTC pipeline mainly transports oil produced in Azerbaijan’s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli block, as well as condensate from the Shah Deniz field. In addition, other regional crude oil and condensate volumes from the Caspian region – including supplies from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and additional volumes produced in Azerbaijan by SOCAR – are also shipped via the BTC pipeline.
