Azerbaijan discusses aviation projects with the Asian Development Bank

Projects implemented in the railway, metro, and aviation sectors between Azerbaijan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have been discussed.
This was announced by Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev on his account on the social network X.
The discussions took place during the minister’s meeting with a delegation led by Leah Gutierrez, Director General of ADB’s Central and West Asia Department.
“At the meeting, we exchanged views on the development of long-term and strategic cooperation between ADB and Azerbaijan, as well as on major projects being implemented in the transport sector. We also discussed ongoing and planned projects in the railway, metro, and aviation sectors, additional financing opportunities, mechanisms to accelerate decision-making, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation in digitalization and sustainable development,” the minister noted.
It should be recalled that to date, ADB has financed approximately $5.5 billion across 145 projects in Azerbaijan. The largest areas of financing have been transport ($1.5 billion) and energy ($1.7 billion).
Under the new partnership strategy, ADB is ready to invest up to $2.5 billion in Azerbaijan.
ADB was established in 1966 and is headquartered in Manila. The bank has 69 shareholder countries, 50 of which are from the Asia-Pacific region. Azerbaijan has been a member of ADB since 1999.
