Azerbaijan and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) have held discussions on accelerating priority projects and achieving sustainable, high-impact results.
The Daily Baku reports, citing the bank, that the discussions were held during a meeting between IsDB President Mohammed Al-Jasir and Azerbaijan's First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev.
The meeting reaffirmed the depth of the partnership between the Islamic Development Bank and Azerbaijan.
Mohammed Al-Jasir also expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting the Islamic Development Bank Group Annual Meeting in 2026 and stressed that the bank will continue to firmly support Azerbaijan's long-term development and growth goals.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has been a member of the IsDB since 1992 and has a 0.13% stake in the bank's capital.
By the end of 2024, the total amount of financing allocated by the IsDB Group to Azerbaijan reached 1 billion 298 million US dollars and covers 81 projects. The bulk of this funding - US$1.106 billion - was allocated to project financing for 35 initiatives. US$185.8 million was allocated to 20 trade finance operations, US$4.4 million to 23 technical assistance projects, and US$1.6 million to three special assistance initiatives.
The IsDB Group will host the 51st Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors and a series of events in Baku from 16 to 19 June 2026.
