Azerbaijan attaches importance to stability in Iran

On January 23, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Vahid Jalalzadeh, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, the MFA told The Daily Baku.
During the meeting, the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, the recent tensions in Iran, and regional issues were discussed.
Deputy Minister V. Jalalzadeh provided detailed information on the recent tensions and the current situation in Iran. In turn, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized Azerbaijan’s importance attached to stability in Iran and conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the recent events.
Azərbaycanla İran arasında dost münasibətlərin inkişafında ölkə Prezidentləri arasında təmasların, qarşılıqlı səfərlərin, o cümlədən mövcud siyasi dialoqun vacibliyi, ümumi maraq kəsb edən məsələlərin müzakirəsinin əməkdaşlığın genişləndirilməsinə töhfə verdiyi bildirilib. Azərbaycan və İran arasında iqtisadi, ticarət və humanitar sahələrdə əməkdaşlıq üzrə Dövlət Komissiyasının işi məmnunluqla qeyd olunub.
It was noted that contacts between the Presidents of the two countries, mutual visits, as well as the existing political dialogue, are important for the development of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, and that discussions on issues of mutual interest contribute to the expansion of cooperation. The work of the State Commission on Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran was noted with satisfaction.
Discussing the prospects for cooperation in the fields of transport and communications, the sides emphasized that a number of projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Iran play an important role in the development of transport corridors passing through the region.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
