Azerbaijan and Iran discuss electricity export

Discussions were held between Azerbaijan and Iran on joint projects, including the implementation of the Khudaferin, Giz Galasi and Ordubad hydroelectric power stations and the export of electricity.
The Ministry of Energy reports that these discussions were held during a meeting between Minister Parviz Shahbazov and a delegation led by Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Co-Chair of the Azerbaijan-Iran Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Farzana Sadiq.
The heads of state noted with satisfaction that the friendly and partnership relations have given impetus to the development of Azerbaijan-Iran relations, which have deep historical roots, at a new stage in all areas. It was emphasized that the energy sector plays an important role in bilateral relations. The fact that energy issues are also reflected in the Protocol of the 17th meeting of the "State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran" was evaluated as an indicator of the importance attached to partnership in this direction.
It was agreed to strengthen joint activities in order to accelerate the implementation of projects on the agenda.
