Assistant to Azerbaijani President discussed co-op with Kazakh ambassador

Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmat Hajiyev, has met with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Alim Bayel, The Daily Baku reports, citing the Embassy of Kazakhstan.
According to the report, the parties reviewed the results of bilateral cooperation over the past year and discussed plans for the near future.Alim Bayel noted the high dynamics of mutual visits as an important indicator of the intensity of cooperation. Over the past three years, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has visited Azerbaijan six times, while President Ilham Aliyev has paid five visits to Kazakhstan.
It was noted that on August 8, 2025, the long-standing conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia came to an end, and a historic Declaration on a peaceful settlement was signed. Kazakhstan also contributed to the peace process by providing a platform for the Azerbaijan–Armenia talks in 2024: “A fact of symbolic and practical significance is that, for the first time in 30 years, the cargo allowed to pass from Azerbaijani territory to Armenia was Kazakh wheat. The parties noted the importance of further opening communications. One of the significant events of 2025 was Azerbaijan’s full-fledged participation in the format of the Central Asian leaders’ summits. Kazakhstan provided comprehensive support for this process. In a comment to the Azerbaijani media, Kazakhstan’s leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that he would be pleased to see Azerbaijan’s participation in the C5+U.S. format.”
The parties emphasized the need to strengthen economic and industrial cooperation by making use of the opportunities of the joint investment fund, as well as the importance of further developing transport, logistics, and energy cooperation.
Issues related to the international and regional agenda were also discussed. It was noted that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are jointly and actively participating in the formation of a new geopolitical and geoeconomic architecture in the Eurasian space.
