Armenia diversifies export markets after Russian import restrictions, Pashinyan says

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that Armenia is working to diversify export markets for goods affected by import restrictions in Russia.
Speaking at a meeting with voters as part of the election campaign, Pashinyan said the government is actively seeking alternative destinations for Armenian products, according to Interfax.
“We are talking about new sales markets. We are grateful to our international partners for their swift response. We already have concrete proposals regarding the purchase of roses, fruits and vegetables,” Pashinyan said.
The prime minister stressed that the authorities would provide support to producers who have suffered losses as a result of restrictions on exports to Russia.
“If peppers spoil, I will pay for those peppers, the government will pay. However, as a result of all this, both pepper production and exports in Armenia will increase,” he stated.
Pashinyan added that support and subsidy programs would be implemented in all cases where exporters face what he described as unfair barriers to foreign markets.
The Armenian government has recently intensified efforts to expand trade ties with alternative markets as businesses seek to reduce their dependence on a single export destination and strengthen the resilience of the country’s agricultural sector.
