AIR Center publishes report on the TRIPP Zangezur corridor

Center for Analysis of International Relations has published a new analytical report titled “The TRIPP Zangezur Corridor: A Strategic Link for Trade, Transit, and Regional Development.”
The report was prepared under the academic supervision of the Chairman of the AIR Center Board, Farid Shafiyev. The research was conducted jointly by AIR Center experts and students of ADA University.
Based on expert interviews, document analysis, and academic sources, the report examines the impact of the TRIPP Zangezur corridor on regional connectivity, economic relations, and the balance of power in the South Caucasus.
The study seeks to answer three key questions. First, what is the economic significance of the TRIPP initiative for participating countries and for the Middle Corridor more broadly. Second, how does the development of the corridor affect regional power dynamics and geopolitical relations. Third, what political, legal, and technical challenges hinder its implementation, and what solutions may help overcome these obstacles.
According to the report, the launch of the TRIPP Zangezur corridor would enhance trade efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and facilitate the integration of Central Asian countries into European markets through shorter transit routes.
The corridor is also expected to benefit regional actors. Armenia would gain transit revenues and access to new market opportunities, Azerbaijan would further strengthen its position as a transportation hub, while Russia and Iran would retain opportunities to participate in additional transport networks.
The report emphasizes that the success of the TRIPP project depends on three key factors: sustained diplomatic engagement, the restoration of mutual trust, and the application of modern border management technologies. These elements are essential both for safeguarding sovereignty and ensuring efficient and secure transit.
