Samsung has stepped up its game in the foldable smartphone market, launching the Galaxy Z TriFold earlier this month, The Daily Baku reports.

When unfolded, the new three-panel device features a 10-inch QXGA+ (2160 × 1584) display. The display is designed for both productivity and multimedia with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits of brightness.

The TriFold design allows the phone to run three apps in parallel or display one app full screen. The device's panels fold inward to protect the main screen, and there is an automatic warning system that warns the user if it is folded incorrectly.

The phone is 12.9 mm thick when folded, and only 3.9 mm thick when unfolded. It is offered with 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB or 1 TB of storage. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a 5600 mAh battery.

The camera system is also ambitious: there is a 200 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide angle, a 10 MP telephoto (3x optical, 30x digital zoom) and two 10 MP cameras on the front. A titanium hinge and a reinforced aluminum frame increase the durability of the device.

Experts say that tri-fold phones are more functional as both a phone and a tablet replacement. The large screen creates an advantage for productivity, reading and video. However, it is emphasized that due to the high price (about $ 2440) and limited application ecosystem, such devices are still intended for a niche market.
