Trump: Washington reception shooter had several weapons with him

US President Donald Trump stated that the shooter at the White House Correspondents' Association reception at the Washington Hilton Hotel was carrying several weapons.

He made this announcement at a press conference following the incident.

"An individual charged the security checkpoint with several weapons and was captured by brave members of the U.S. Secret Service, who acted very quickly," Trump said.

He added that one Secret Service officer was shot, but his body armor prevented serious injuries.

"He was shot with a very powerful weapon at very close range, but his body armor worked. I spoke with the officer, and he's doing great," the American leader noted.

Trump also added that preliminary information indicates the shooter likely acted alone, and the investigation should confirm this.
